Women in Karbala
Zainab Daughter of Imam Ali
Her influence on the battle of Karbala was beyond significant. Lady Zainab was the pillar supporting Imam Hussain in battle. She saw as her sons, nephews, and brothers get horrendously killed in battle, and yet she kept her stance providing emotional support and love to the grieving families when she herself was dealing with a loss too great to be fathomed. Lady Zainab then took on the role of spreading Imam Hussain’s story becoming a living history book. She even stood Infront of Yazid in his palace giving a speech that left all trembling. The power in her words, reflects the words of her holy mother Fatima Al-Zahra and her grandfather Prophet Muhammad. Nothing stopped Lady Zainab, she was certainly the continuation of Imam Hussain’s message and mission. The reason that after thousands of years the story of Imam Hussain is still told and relived.

Um Kalthoum Daughter of Imam Ali
She assisted her older sister Zainab in the tents and with the children and had given many sermons and speeches about the sacrifice of her brothers and family in the fields of Karbala. Some (narrative accounts of the Battle of Karbala) have reported the attendance of Umm Kulthum in the Battle of Karbala. In these books, she has been frequently mentioned beside Zainab (a) and her sufferings have been quoted. Majlisi says, "After Imam's martyrdom, when the tents were burned, the earrings of Umm Kulthum, Husayn's (a) sister, were taken out forcibly".[19] She was a narrator of the Battle of 'Ashura and delivered a sermon in the meeting held by Ibn Ziyad in Kufa.
