The Tragedies of Lady Sakina
Lady Sakina and the Martyrdom of Ali Al-Akbar
After Hussain cried at Ali Al-Akbar’s cut up body, he called the boys of Bani Hashem then went to the women’s tents teary-eyed, so Lady Sakina asked him, “O’ father, why are you sad? Where is my brother Ali Al-Akbar?” The imam cried, “O’, my daughter the villains have killed him.” Lady Sakina then wailed, “O’, my brother! O’, Ali!” She then screamed and stood up to get out of the tent so imam Hussain held her and said, “O’ daughter, remember God and be patient.” Sakina then replied, “How can one whose brother was killed and father abandoned be patient?” He replied, “Surely we belong to God and to him we shall return.”
Lady Sakina and the Martyrdom of Ali Al-Asghar
Ali Al-Asghar was in his father’s arms when the enemy’s arrow struck his fragile neck and blood started to flow on his chest. Imam Hussain then returned him to the tent. Sakina greeted her father saying, “O’ father, have you given my brother water?” Tears than started to come out of her father’s eyes as he said, “My daughter, here is your brother martyred by the hands of the enemies.”

Lady Sakina’s Farewell to Hussain
When Imam Hussain saw the bloody bodies of his companions and the youths of Bani Hashem (tribe in which the Prophet and his family belonged to), he prepared himself to fight the enemy and called out, “Is there any merciful person to give mercy to the family of the prophet, is there a person to bring victory to the pure offspring of Al-Batool (Lady Fatima Al-Zahra)?” Then he went to the camp and called out, “O’ Sakina! O’ Fatima! O’ Zainab! O’ Um Kalthoom! You have my greetings for this is the last time we will meet and the time has neared for you to grieve.”The voice of the women of The Prophet’s household got louder as they said, “Farewell, farewell, parting, parting.” Sakina called out, “O’ father, you have surrendered to death, who should I depend on?” Imam Hussain then said, “Light of my eyes, how could one not surrender to death when he has no victor and no helper?” Sakina replied, “Then return us to the city of our grandfather, Prophet Muhammad [Medina].”When the women of the household of the prophet heard the neigh of a horse, Zainab turned to Sakina and said, “Your father has come with water, go outside to drink some.” When Sakina got out of the tent she saw her father’s horse alone and covered in blood. She screamed, “O’ martyred! O’ estranged! O’ Hussain! O’ Muhammad! O’ grandfather! O’ Fatima!” When all the women heard the crying of Sakina, they left their tents and saw Imam Hussain’s stallion with no rider. They started to hit their faces with their hands saying, “O’ Muhammad! O’ Ali! O’ Hassan! O’ Hussain! Muhammad The Chosen died today! Ali Al-Murtadha died today! Fatima Al-Zahra’a died today!”
