Arafa Prayer: Anatomy

"I witness, my lord, by the truth of my faith

and the knotted resolution of my certainty,

and my pure and whole belief in Your Oneness,

and the essence of the secret of my conscience,

and the places to which the streams of light of my eyes are attached,

and the lines of my forehead,

and the hallows of the courses of my breath,

and the cavities of my nose,

and the courses of the meatus of my hearing,

and what my lips close upon and compress,

and the movements of my tongue in speaking,

and the joint at the back of my mouth and jaw,

and the sockets of my teeth

and the place where i swallow my food and drink,

and what bears my brain,

and the hollow passages of my neck’s fibres,

and what is included in my chest cavity,

and the carriers of my aorta,

and the cords of the pericardium of my heart,

and the pieces of flesh around my liver,

and that which the cartilages of my ribs encompass,

and the sockets of my joints,

and the contraction of my organisms,

and my fingertips,

and my flesh,

and my blood,

and my hair,

and my skin,

and my nerve,

and my windpipe,

and my bones,

and my brain,

and my veins,

and all of my organs,

and that which was pieced together during the days of my suckling,

and what the earth has taken away from me,

and my sleeping, and my wakefulness, and my stillness,

and the movements of my bowing and prostration;

(by all that I bear witness) that if I try my best and strive throughout all ages and all times, if I live them, to thank properly only one of Your blessings, I will not be able to do so, except through Your grace, which also requires me to thank You for it, once again with new thanking, and with praise that is newly acquired and newly prepared.

Indeed! And if I , as well as the counters from Your creatures, try hard to count the extent of Your bestowal of blessings, both the past and present, we shall never be able to count them in number, or count them in time.

How could it ever be done! While it is You Who have informed, in Your eloquent Book and the truthful message, 'And if you count the blessings of Allah, never will you be able to count them.' O’ Lord, Your Book-Your Message- has spoken the truth! And your prophets and messengers delivered your revelation."
