Al-Maimoon
All of God’s creations are born with an instinct to love him, his prophets, and his successors. Animals are no different, many occasions prove nature’s love towards prophet Muhammad and his holy household(peace be upon him and his progeny) and vise versa. Al-Maimoon Imam Hussain’s stallion was the descendant of Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH&P) stallion . Imam Hussain had a very special and deep relationship with Al-Maimoon, such that Al-Maimoon refused to drink water in the scorching heat of Karbala because he could not bear quenching his thirst while his Imam was deprived of water and extremely thirsty.
Al-Maimoon was ridden on the Tenth day of Muharram,he was called the winged because of his speed.
Imam Hussain stayed on the back of his horse until he was taken over with exhaustion, but he still persevered and fought until he fell onto the ground. After Imam Hussain fell ,his horse began to defend him, attacking the enemies’ horses and killing a group of them.

When Imam Hussain was martyred, Al-Maimoon smeared his mane with the Imam’s blood and headed towards the tents, neighing and stopping the ground to deliver the (tragedy)to the holy household. The women’s voices loudened once they realized that the Imam has been martyred. Al-Maimoon was mumbling after the martyrdom of imam Hussain saying as translated by the holy household , “Injustice, injustice to a nation that killed the son of the daughter of its prophet.” It is told that Al-Maimoon began to wonder aimlessly after the martyrdom of the imam, threw himself into the river Euphrates and disappeared.
