Imam Al-Sadiq’s Impact on Chemistry

It is most likely that Imam AlSadeq was knowledgeable about the properties of both pure and compound elements. He has taught Chemistry in his school 12 and a half centuries ago. One of his students that is most known for this field of science is Hasham Bin Hakam, who is also one of Imam AlSadeq’s companions.

One of Imam AlSadeq’s students that is well known for his skills in chemistry and natural sciences is Jaber Ibn Hayyan AlSufi AlTartusi. He had written down 1,500 letters of the Imam's reports in the fields of chemistry and 1,000 papers on Medicine. Jaber was able to inspect and apply a large denomination of scientific theories. The most important of them all is preparing sulfuric acid by distilling it in alum; he had named it vitriol oil. He also prepared Aqua Fortis, Caustic Soda and gold water. Jaber was also the first to notice the precipitation of silver chloride when NaCl is added into silver nitrate.
